All we see at the end of the the halo 2 : cut-scene is the EMP Blast and a few buses and trucks being throw about. The space elevator is in the process of falling near the end of this teaser trailer. Look at it after the Superintendent comes online again. Since the other end of it is in orbit, it's going to take a while to fall all the way down.
