In Response To: The IGN Post of Doom (Caerdwyn)

: It was an unconfirmed theory, though it's possible: Halo for
: PC/Mac may not complete the port until Fall of 2002.

Actually, there's probably quite a bit of truth in it since Jason Jones still hasn't decided on how to handle the PC/Mac version.

Nobody really knows how long the port will take, but it seems that common sense would say that it would take at least 5-7 months after the port has started before they complete it in a releaseable form. There have been a bunch of posts on this forum discussing the various reasons behind this and since I have to run off to school I'm not going to search for them, but in short:

1. Jason must decide how to handle it. :-)
2. Bungie needs to add an online component
3. Bungie must deal with porting the code
4. Bungie must code for many more hardware configurations
(PC/Mac are all different... not unified architecture like XBox)
5. Bungie must code for both PC and Mac
6. Bungie might make the PC/Mac version slightly different instead of a straight port... this would mean the design an building of new levels/scenarios (IE, if they make it slightly longer or change a map design a bit...).

So, a fall 2002 release (or later) for XBox wouldn't be suprising.
Time to go camp outside of Target. :-)
