I'm now stuck but I hope this helps someone : else to get a new file type. I wasn't quite so stuck, I tried the address with http: thinking that rtsp: would be for the realplayer program and I got another .ram file. This contained this link rtsp://216.106.166.158/crains01/halo.smi I tried this with http: but it didn't work, then with ftp: I'm still waiting to see if it will download but it's looking more hopeful, it didn't come up with an error message, it just hasn't started downloading yet. I have been waiting a while though. The other thing the realplayer website mentioned was that if somebody had realplayer plus then they might be able to record the file if the website which put it up allowed it.
