We tried putting fence panels round the overshield, to sort of "keep me out", and it seemed to work. As did putting the overshield "behind" a teleporter (i.e. not anywhere along the path between them, parallel across the whole map). However, even in the basic setups you see in the video I only grabbed the overshield about one in five times I passed through, so maybe I just didn't try it enough times in those later tests...
