All it needs is a : little retconning to clean up the whole Yasmine/Durga mess. I've always : figured she really was a rampant AI that developed an alternate : personality and past after becoming obsessed with Jersey's father. Yasmine : could have been kidnapped for another reason (illegal AI brain : harvesting???). Who knows. But I say that ILB is totally worth saving. : It'd be a shame to throw out such a marvelously crafted piece of the Halo : universe simply because of a few misfits with the established timeline. I love ILB and wish all of it was canon, but alas, someone at Bungie felt that certain aspects of the game didn't sync with what they were doing. It seems sloppy to me to let an officially sanctioned game like that contain material which wasn't 100% official story to begin with, but Halo 2 was being worked on so furiously up until the end that it's probably likely that they just didn't have the time or manpower to fully supervise what went on with ILB until it was over. I personally like to imagine that the characters from the story exist still on the Halo Earth, even if Yasmine wasn't a Spartan-II.
