NPD had it moving another 300,000 : copies in the US alone in February. Odds are good it's still doing similar : numbers; it's still on the charts elsewhere (such as the UK) as well. Even : if the free maps and upcoming Legendary pack brings tons of players back : to Halo 3, there are still hundreds of thousands of new customers of CoD4 : every month. Halo 3 was more front-loaded, and has dropped off the charts. : That means it's unlikely that the returning Halo 3 players will eclipse : the steady rise in COD4 players. : I think there's just a lot of overlap in the customer base for the two games, : and since COD4 came out a few months later, a lot of Halo 3 players moved : over to it. I've personally seen a lot of people on my friends list (and : in forums) returning to Halo 3, but the sheer numbers mean CoD4 is going : to be the top Live game until this fall. This is not a failing on Bungie's : part, it just means there are two hugely popular shooters out there. Which : is a good thing, IMO. : COD4's base will dry up when COD5 comes out this fall. I suspect Halo 3 will : drop as well, especiall when Gears 2 arrives. That's good company to be : in. It doesn't go by hours played by people total it goes by unique users for the week
