The Chieftain just rips through them like paper :) On Heroic I found that my rocket launcher and sniper rifle usually took care of him quite nicely. I never bothered trying Legendary though. With H3 I usually stick to Heroic or lower, as I find the lethality of enemy vehicles and sniper Jackals too unpleasant on Legendary - kills the fun for me.
