While I'm not a fan of Floodified stuff, that could work, from a gameplay perspective.

You know, while playing some levels yesterday, I found myself thinking how well some single player environments might work as multiplayer maps. And now that I think back to thinking that, I get reminded of Metroid Prime: Hunters for the DS, where all multiplayer maps are rooms or clusters of rooms from the single player mode...

I'm sure something awesome could be done with, say, the skull room on Cortana. Or something similar to that roughly cylindrical room where you start at the bottom and have to find your way up twisting ramps to get to the top of the room, and there's little tunnels all over the place where you can hide. Those make for some very good arenas.

I also found myself staring at the first indoor area on The Ark, you know, where the first terminal is found. That one corridor, with the doors and little alcoves on the sides, and the doors on the side leading into the terminal room, would probably make for some fun gameplay if it was connected to a larger level. And it's a gorgeous corridor. It uses some assets that're also found in Construct, but it's much more interesting to walk around inside. Speaking of The Ark, the two circular arenas in the very beginning of the level could also be parts of a multiplayer map. Maybe one could use the vertical difference to make it an asymmetrical objective map, like High Ground. One side defends and one side attacks.

While gameplay obviously rules the multiplayer world, the environments also make an enormous difference. Some people veto Guardian not because it's not fun, but because they dislike how dark and murky it is. Just like how I hated Lockout in Halo 2 because of how... grey it was. And some of the environments from campaign are so beautiful they'd instantly be fun to fight in, even if they're not the best maps from a gameplay point of view.
