This may be the case (i have my doubts), but as far as the "backlash" goes, Bungie isn't responsible for the wild delusions of grandeur that grow in the minds of the fans. I'm actually amazed that there are so many people that were underwhelmed, or said they were underwhelmed, if only to appear unimpressed with what we've seen so far. After all, Halo 3 isn't going to be the game to end all games. You know the segment of the E Tu, Brute? video where the Brute crushes the marine with the fist of Rukt, and the second the hammer hits it goes from untextured assets to what looks like full textures and lighting effects? Isn't that enough polish, at least regarding visuals? It is for me. Anything more is gravy in my book. I seriously doubt that Bungie is going to rush themselves into polishing the beta so as to retain the high regard of cynical fans. It's a beta. Pulbic beta tests are nothing new to the industry, only new to consoles, AFAIK. It would be a silly thing to try to rush production because someone might get the wrong impression of the game from what has been made crystal clear as being an unfinished build. And yet some people undoubtedly WILL prejudge based on the beta. I just think Bungie has more important things to worry about. ~Ma1
