Re: Longsword Progress

In Response To: Longsword Progress (Mid7night)

: I'd like some feedback on my Longsword model, mainly on the landing gear. My
: main source for the gear is the HGN, page 102.

: The picture isn't entirely clear, so I took some artistic license, and here's
: what I got: Side: http://i18.tinypic.com/2mg13si.jpg
: Rear: http://i9.tinypic.com/35ddmhe.jpg
: Front: http://i15.tinypic.com/35iy5nm.jpg
: Top: http://i9.tinypic.com/2ia3j12.jpg
: UpFront: http://i9.tinypic.com/34445g6.jpg

: Here is a short video of the retract sequence:

: I put the two main gears under the engine nacelles, but forward of center
: rather than aft. And I put the center "nosegear" towards the
: tail, somewhat like an old taildragger, but without drooping the tail.
: This results in a sort of reversed-tricycle gear arrangement. It looks a
: little odd, I grant you, but it actually doesn't affect handling terribly.
: And since the Longsword is primarily a VTOL aircraft, I'm not too
: concerned with the takeoff roll. Any thoughts?

As you can see by this bottom render, it appears that there are tree "Port shaped parts" of the bottom of the LongSword that I assume is where the landing gear come out of.
