That is awesome.

Actually I can see this has alot to do with the Halo Universe. Especially dealing with the Spartan II history and their childhood.

May I just break this down?

All around me are familiar faces,
Worn out places,
Worn out faces,
Bright and early for the daily races,
Going nowhere,
Going nowhere,

This could be going through MC's mind during battle. Familiar faces would mean his fellow marines and how their rugged dirty faces all look the same while being in places destroyed by war. Warn out faces of the tired marines in fighting.

Bright and ealry fro their daily races could mean that a race is a race for survival and that they constantly fight to stay alive and going nowhere with it. Like saying it was hopeless.

Their tears are filling up their glasses,
No expression,
No expression,
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow,
No tomorrow,
No tomorrow,

Some of the marines are scared, sad, and cry cause war is hell. I am sure many people who have been to war can tell you their are moments when een the strongest men cry, but because they are soldiers they are supposed o have no emotion so most have no expression or they don't know how to show expression.

MC feels sad for them. He hides his emotions cause he knows that if he does it could screw up the ego of the people trying to protect cause he knows he is their last hope. But he also knows that there is no tomorrow for some. Some, if not most, are going to die.

The chorus itself is hard to decifer as it could mean that a part of MC wants it to be over. A mad world where everything is mixed up and even having to train little kids to fight is screwed up.

The next parts really take for the early childhood of John and the other Spartans

Children waiting for the day they feel good,
Happy birthday,
Happy birthday,
And I feel the way that every child should,
Sit and listen,
Sit and listen,

The fellow children are always waiting for that day when things are great. Birthdays for one. I don't think any of the spartan had celebrated their birthdays fo over 30 years. Like all the other Spartan children all they could do was sit and listen to adult telling them what needs to be done.

Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson,
Look right through me,
Look right through me,

I can see this part involving when he first gets to bootcamp and seeing all the other canidates. All the other scared faces. None he knew from school or any of his friends. The boot camp leader Mendez comes over to them as their new teacher and tells them all what to do. Or this could refer to Hasley, as we know John had a very strong connection with her and somehow Hasley could see right through him. How he was, how he is, and probably how he was going to be.

If I really think about it. it makes more sense than the Gears Of War commercial.

I like it.

I like it all.
