A good theory to be sure, but the main reason that this can't be possible is because of the fact that they're on Earth. Notice how only the lighting changes when it goes from calm night sky to sunny battlefield. Now, where the Chief is fighting could only possibly be Earth. Therefore, these are just two random kids, John and Jane Doe (or John Smith and Jane Smith, if you want) that are shown relaxing on Earth to underline the fact that people are being killed. Yes, it's obvious people die in war, but the concept of children casualities (hence, screaming) makes it that much more impactful. Admittedly, though, I cannot explain the barely audible "Time to go." as the Chief stands up. A second reason, which is more of conviction than anything else, is that if that lil' boy was in fact Mr. 117-to-be, that pretty much voids the whole, "never see his face" concept. I personally wouldn't have minded the idea that the two kids were Spartans (even if it would be impossible for two of them to be at such an age on Earth) if the boy's features were completely unseen, thus retaining the facelessness of the Chief, young and old. | |
