All of them I destroyed were destroyed when there was no pilot and when there was one. Besides the toughest Elite you'd get was a Major inside a vehicle so the difference was really minor (if even present). Also another factor is if it was mysteriously hit by something before hand. What am I talking about? Well sometimes when they spawn an explosion happens weakening the Wraith ahead of time.
