Unseen Marines: mystery solved

In Response To: Twin bridges megabattle (Rockslider) In my account of the twin bridges megabattle I mentioned noticing that my chain-gunning Sergeant Johnson was apparently invisible to the enemy; they didn't target him. I now realize what's going on. If you've used the trick for getting seven extra Marines at the start of the level, and the four Pelican Marines are inactive when you trigger the first snow battle (which would normally be the case), the Pelican Marines will be invisible to the enemy throughout the level. They'll have a free licence to run around shooting without fear of retaliation. That's a bit unfair on the covies, but maybe you don't mind. I've updated the site to include this new info. There's no such oddity if you instead use the trick for getting three extra Marines at the start, incidentally. One other minor update. In the Platform ambush, I've now seen Elites jump clean across the trough to escape grenades. Those guys can sure leap huh?
