I've often wondered that myself, but usually just brush it under the carpet to continue playing. Maybe this is a prelude to the forrunners and Humans being the same species. Thus, this input on the forrunner console is the same imput humans developed later. It's a very, very long shot, but that's just the way I looked at it.
