With the Teleporting feature? Anyways, to the guy who asked the question, The switches dont do anything. Heres the likely explanation I wrote on HighImpactHalo Alright notice that all the switches are all at places that a type of gondola would be. Taso was right about the Delta Halo-Regret thing. The Zanzibar was used because it was aready made and its the only switch object in the early game. It was probably meant for the Gondola on Regret. Specifically ones that YOU dont press to activate. the gondola wont move until acted upon by the switches. When you do a certain thing the switch activates to get a gondola moving for you. To further prove the location thing. The High Charity switch is in the Chandeller room. Which has those little gravity things and they bring the platforms down. On Quartine, theres the obvious one for the gondola, which is activated by the cutscene. Also, not to mention, C0ld would just fall since there no ground beneth the switches to catch him, unless he had the character fly.
