| E3 & Deanero's party! (the truthful long version) | |

30 hours................... OK, So Thursday I arrive home from work and Morningstar is sitting in my kitchen with a sandwich in hand. My wife just looked at me and said... "I don't know, he was here when I got home". Star' had driven 8 hours to my house to try and crash E3 with me. He knows of my KORHAL/Frogblast capabilities and was certain I could get him in. So Friday morning comes and off we go. We arrived in the smog infested basin around 11am. Parking, we needed to park. Many lots, streets, garages were to be had. The price dropped from $40.00 near the center to $2.50 if you decided to park near the zoo in San Diego. Which I did because I am a cheap bastard and Morningstar was even cheaper and wouldn't chip in for parking. We were directed by a small Mexican guy with a red flag down an alley. No, wait.... really.... this alley was straight out of boyz in the hood! It was so narrow that my Delorean would hardly fit. And with all the trash dumpsters, noise and steam rolling out from the closed steel roll up doors, there was no way to get this thing up to 88 miles an hour. We were stuck. At the end of the alley was the same little Mexican guy waving us into an old abandon sweat shop. this place held maybe 11 cars. When the doors raised to let me out the banged very low hung lights that swaggered in the dark building from only their electrical cords. We paid out $2.50 and left. ***** Please note about this time Vector40 parked his car also ****** E3 itself was filled with color,lights,glamour and exhibits of every size!!!! Or so I was told and was now determined to get in. A crowbar to the hatch on the roof wasn't going to work. (Mainly because I didn't have a crow bar once I was up there) I tried bribing people that were leaving for their pass/badge. That wasn't working. I asked a cop for his badge or just an hour, that wasn't working either. I tried to beat up this over weight techno nerd guy who was sweating his ass off in the sun waiting for his mom to give him a ride home on Pico blvd. I enden up getting my beat down and tossed into a planter where some girl handed me a bunch of VIP gentlemen’s club cards and a soldier handed me some 'Hooha' military energy bar and told me I should stop messing around and think about my future. Morningstar remained calm and cool and collected and kept his distance as to not be associated with me. (some friend) I was now hot and I was hungry. We went to the Holiday inn coffee shop for a bite. They had renamed it "The Emerald Grill", bought some fake cherry wood seats and now were charging 13.89 for a rewrapped McDonalds cheeseburger. So, all through my efforts I had been in phone contact with our fearless leader Louis Wu. Well.......... I had been leaving messages anyway. I assumed he couldn't respond due to some technical difficulties. But the moment finally arrived and we gathered ourselves in the lobby and I was introduced to Recon54, Aros and Pinkuh (I hope I got those right), Mothergoat and Nemesis. I was ready to get out my autograph book, but they were all like "Skav who?" So after some quick slide of hand with my new found friends and my terminator sun glasses (and a stare at the lady checking I.D.'s that showed what a bad ass I really was) I was in! It probably would have been easier to use Miguels pass, but Louis warned me about it burning my neck when I put it on or something, so I waved off and went with my own plan 'B'. Morningstar and I made a round through E3 and absorbed as much as our small minds would allow. (Almost a whole 20 minutes worth) Then we were out again. 20 minutes was just enough time for Frankie and Jason to spot me in the croud and pull me into the back VIP area of Microsoft and chat about our old college days and what not. I told them I needed to go and they understood. ***** please note here Vector40 was now out and trying to locate his car *** So, we were all off to Deanero's place for some Halo goodness and food. First off let me thank deanero for allowing me to stay even after he found out I got an invite totally by accident. I think that says a lot about his character and how for 20 bucks will really take me. So, for the second time in one day I was 'in'. The food was great, plenty of everything to go around. Lots of seating and the big screen and 3 projection screens were rockin' cool. The first game I was in it was 3 on........... I don't know. You see Schooly D presses "A" when it is like him against 12 people. He seriously does not care about odds. Not arrogance, not always winning...... but the guy I think LOVES to be out numbered. OK, so KP, me and Schooly D.... VS Like 6 guys. We played Zanzibar. Some TS first. I then found myself with not only a negative score, but for the first time Schooly was beginning to doubt if even his skillz could make up for my less than perfect ways. Schooly D."OK, Skav, just take the bomb into their base. Can you do that?" Following his directions, we lost. ****** Close to 8pm and no Vector40. Text messages reveal he has ben looking for his car for 3 hours now ******** The rest of the night I stayed away from the XBOX's and pretended to let others have a turn instead of me to be nice. I tossed in a bunch of sarcasm about Louis' game play and I felt better. (Hey, I picked the easiest target in the room) The most notable events of the night during game play were these: Morninstar on Coagulation in a massive TS game managed to outlive 4 gunners and passengers in a hog as he drove one handed through the level screaming " I need another driver damnit" in between swigs of beer with his other hand. People were actually refusing to get in with him as it was just a snipers delight when you jumped in with that drunk bastard. Toss in the usual "NO NO NO the 'FRONT' DOOR!!! dumbass!........ wait wait.. ok, now.. go go go...... a host of betrayals, and about every 2 minutes someone screaming :"HAH! yea! Take that KP (or schooly D)... oh...oh.. NOOOO Damn you KP (or Schooly D)"..... Yes, they frustrated the lot of us. ****** Note 9:45 and Vector was now looking for a ride to keep searching for his ride ********* Between 10pm and 11pm there was a big game between Bungie/HBO and a team I can hardly pronounce the name of. Morningstars write up should be on subnova by now. So, we all had a group picture with Louis having no success in operating his camera..... We stood here forever, some with beers in hand waiting for King Louey to figure out how to make the flash work when the shutter, while 3 guys from Idaho sang "the internet is for porn". Eventually it was time to go. Louis needed a ride to LAX and I saw an opportunity to make my $20.00 back I had to give Deanero to let me in. ***** Note, now after 11pm and no sign of Vector40 or his car ********* We drove Louis to the airport, and with a tearful hug we said goodbye. He missed his flight by 6 minutes!! (Which Star and I traced the blame back to 12 minutes of wasted time where he was fumbling through the tech support instructions for his camera).I offered Louis to drive him to another airport for 300.00. he declined my generosity and opted to sleep in the comfortable terminal sweets provided by Northwest Air. Star and I drove home. Somewhere in Burbank we got a Sobe and a sissy Arizona gren tea for Star and after watching a guy steal something from 7-11 we went home, arriving around 2:30am. As we looked back, it was a fun evening filled with typical Halo goodness and trash talking player bashing laughter. I loved being part of it. ***** as I arrived home, still no sign of Vector or his car ****** The highlight of my evening was meting (in person) Miguel, Shishka, Nemesis, Recon54, Mothergoat,Dan Chosich, Skeletor, Silver Brin, KP, Schooly D, Aros and Pinkuh (sp), Deanero, Cunbelin..........and I am sure I am forgetting someone. (sorry) :( It really was the best part of the day for me to put faces and real personalities with names I had been conversing with for the past 5 years. I can't tell you how cool that was. All in all it was good times that ended too fast. I hope too sneak in again unannounced and uninvited with $20.00 in hand at other LANS in the future. Skav-out *P.S. Don't start a new thread!*
