In Response To: Re: Jason Jones named one of "Hot 100 Game Develop (Spartan Jag) "Alex Seropian
These days, Seropian is known primarily for his work at Bungie. He co-founded the company, after all, and was instrumental in the extreme success that was and is still enjoyed by Halo. It’s in his new developer, Wideload Games, however, that we may yet see his true influence on the industry. Stubbs the Zombie, the company’s first game, used a unique combination of established technology and huge amounts of outsourcing to build an innovative game on a trim budget in only eleven months. If there’s any question about keeping design experimentation alive in the next generation, Seropian may already have a viable answer." http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2523&Itemid=2&limit=1&limitstart=8 That is a great description of his contribution. A fantastic game in 11 months, with low overhead after shipping. rant/ I wish more developers would take that route rather than spending 4 years to make their own copy [sic] of the already invented wheel. For four years + development time, I expect a heck of a lot more innovation than what we are getting - it is all going into prettier pictures. /rant |
