this theory is a new thought that hasn't been fully worked out, so be nice when critizing. MAKING A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL: Before gravemind came on the seen, we saw the flood as just an animal, a foe, a pure enemy. however, gravemind changes all this. Gravemind is a creature of intelligence and understanding. A.K.A, sentiant like a human or elite. Now that the flood is no longer purely alien, they are no longer purely and enemy. I know most have there option of the flood. However, does it not seem possible that you could barter with gravemind, barter with the flood. Gravemind is like the leader of the flood, and we can understand him, and he understand use. so then it is be all means possible to negotiate peace. Now before you pull out your flame throwers. peace require the right conditions to make comprimises a.k.a. each side has to be able to give a little. Well what do the flood want.
Think about it for 1 second, remember that old paradox of how if the flood spread to all life in the galaxy then there would be nothing left and there fore they would deplete all life and starve. well want if the floods only goal in life was not to spread, but to live, and that the only way to do that is by infecting others. So think about it, want is that last thing the flood want, it is for halo to be activated and for them to strave once again. well Humanity just so happens to be the ones who could activate halo. sounds like a pretty good barter chip if you ask me, and with a creature like gravemind to barter with, peace might actually be achievable. Think about it. The master Chief confronts Gravemind and delievers the ultimatuim, "Either we figure out a comprimise, or i activate halo and you strave for another 100,000 years." but how do you make piece with the floods, how could they coexist. well, (and know its not proven, maybe even disprovable) what if humantiy offer the flood the bodies of there dead in exchange for peace. there are humans dying everyday. and if you through in the species of the covenant, you might have a deal. or option 2, we gentically alter the flood to make them into a symbote and not a parasite with the naturealy world. or make an animal that needs flood to live. The reason why the forerunners couldn't make such a deal is because they could fully use halo as a threat, halos power had never been demostrated, and the flood had never had the expirence of 100,000 years of isolation. The forerunner didn't make humans reclaimers so that we could repeat there mistakes. | |
