In Response To: Re: Is Miranda Dr. Halsey's Daughter? (Dagorath) : One thing is important though. Nylund and Dietz are not particularly good
I disagree there. Try and look at how Master Chief's character was developed over the series. In Fall of Reach he saw Kelly as a burden, learned to see her as an inalienable asset. That same progressive motion continued on. In fact, I'd say he even began to love her and she him. Going even further Master Chief sees the Marines on Sigma Octanus as useless baggage in the same way he saw Kelly at the beginning. In The Flood he no longer has Spartans and can only work with humans. He begins to gain respect for them and one area where this was evident is when he locates Mobuto in the Library. Foehammer dying also affected his view of the humans he works with. This keeps going on into First Strike, where he still sees them as baggage, but clearly has more respect for them. Master Chief seeing how similar he is to Locklear ends up respecting him quite a bit. He even begins to feel some kinship as though he could easily be a Spartan. This goes on to the point where Master Chief downtalks Dr. Halsey calling her a "civillian" in a very bitter manner. The events on Halo changed him and this is built up to in the Flood and First Strike until the end where Master Chief decides to prevent Johnson from being put on a dissection table. I'd certainly say there's truth to it. |
