In Response To: My reason it wouldn't work: (Mink'O'War) : If the flood are intelligent enough to repair starships, they are intelligent
You don't even need to go that far to debunk this theory. The theory goes that the Halo actually teleports Flood around the galaxy so that they spread, then setting off the Halo installations and wiping the galaxy clean of life. Rather like, starting a fire and then pulling the alarm because you like to see the pretty fire trucks. There's one huge problem with this. The fire isn't actually necessary unless it's completely automatic. And since the Forerunners built the thing, they could have made it work any way they wanted. In short, if they just get their kicks by periodically wiping the galaxy free of life, they hardly need the Flood and a teleporter to achieve this. They only need an alarm clock to tell Halo to fire at a specific interval. The Flood are only needed in this scenario to "set off" the Halo. But if the Forerunner made it, they can set the firing conditions to be whatever they like. Paranoia about the Forerunners and their motives I think is all fine well and good, but I still think it has to be bound by good logic :) |
