Why assume that it is a Gravemind tentacle?

Is that a Gravemind tentacle? I thought it was just a cable from one of the broken down big sentinal things (what are those called? enforcers?) that had been destroyed trying to guard the index. In which case, it didn't surge forward, but rather just came loose from the rest of the machine.

Is there any confirmation either way on this?
