I wouldn't be surprised if it had support for broadband only. According to the Gamestar article, the 3-4 months of development for the PC/mac versions would be focussed on multiplayer (which is why one could be confused into saying that the XBox wouldn't support it), but I think that would be primarily for latency issues and to incorporate the wide variety of pc hardware into the mix.

I don't think either Bungie or M$ would decide to scrap the online component of this game.
