In Response To: New Xbox info (Dan Rudolph)

And now, to provide an examination of the unbiased description of Microsoft's behaviour:

People put cheese on mousetraps because it's something the mice like. Then the mice end up caught and dead.

Everyone mull over that analogy for a while. If you don't see it as logical in any way, then kindly go suck eggs.

I'm not going to accuse him of lying, but I am going to suggest that, with Microsoft and it's employees, the probability can at least be considered.

The PS2 can run video DVDs. Other DVD consoles in the future will probably be able to (assuming other consoles take advantage of DVD, of course). Does anyone realize how LAME it would be if the X-box COULDN'T?

A Microsoft product not being able to do something that any basic-featured whatever-that-product-is(in this case, a DVD console) should be able to do?...Well, I guess it's happened before (with nearly every thing they've released).

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll toss in some bloated, resource-wasting feature no one needs to take that one's place. Just like weather tracking in Windows!

What did I tell you? I believe this sums up my previous statement pretty well.

It better if they want to sell, well, ANY.

Microsoft FORCING people to do something? Why...NO!

That's just...totally UNHEARD of!

You mean the one run on theoretical hardware?

Yeah...when M$ decides they need some new way to extort money out of the consumer for something that SHOULD be included anyway.

They'll probably charge a bundle for it too.

Not EVERYTHING I can say is bad.

This seems like a good idea.

Well, in Microsoft Business Class, that makes sense, since they can then create an overpriced service for dial-up people to use shortly after launch!

Hey, while they're at it, maybe they'll just do that with ALL users! It certainly wouldn't be SURPRISING if they made X-box only work with some special, M$-only ripoff service.

Lucky for us, there are hackers out there who can remedy problems like this.

Only fools would feel bad about somehow screwing over Microsoft.

Well, hopefully they'll stick with that feature as-is, instead of tinkering with it such that it's buggy and unstable and causes more trouble than good (thus creating a market for add-ons that they can overcharge people for!).

Microsoft pioneering adult games...that brings up a hilarious vision.

Did he say anything about launch date?

My estimate puts it no time before about November 2001, at the earliest, no matter what Microsoft and their spineless flunkies say to the contrary.
