Hell, I dunno the difference between a Space Coast Guard and a Space Navy, but yeah, I guess the ships would be smaller and short-ranged. But if civil wars are a problem, then sometimes you could be fighting entire planets. Based on the fact that no one ever seems to teleport nukes into anyone else's ship in Marathon, in spite of the fact that this would end quite a few battles very conclusively, I think it must be difficult to fold unstable fissionable materials from place to place, unless you have a really big, stable (i.e. ship-size) FTL drive. Durandal must have beaten that difficulty before humans did. Assuming, of course, that they did indeed develop FTL travel before he arrived. --SiliconDream |
