I don't know, I don't think they'd spend all that time and effort on a game just to hand it entirely to someone else. Maybe they had some contractual obligation we don't know about, but I think the simplest explanation is just that it's a non-Myth fantasy game.

Even before the deal, Matt said this new game wasn't going to be based around Myth. Well, actually, he said something like "When we were brainstorming names for this game, Myth 3 never came up." I don't have the forum link on me, sorry.
