| Covenant timeline - Joe Staten Interview | |

In an interview with Joe Staten, he described "blocks" of time in Covenant history that were important. This is my interpretation of the ages. Age(s) of Abandonment - The Forerunner abandon one of their worlds, possibly to the Flood, on which the Prophets later evolved on. Age(s) of Conflict - The Prophets and Elites are engaged in bitter struggles for the galaxy and the right to Forerunner ruins. Age(s) of Discovery - The Prophets discover many Forerunner ruins on other worlds. They rejoice and begin to worship the Forerunner as gods. Age(s) of Reconciliation - The Prophets share this knowlage with the Elites, and together they form the Covenant. The Elites would protect the Prophets as long as the Prophets shared the technology and secrets of the Forerunner with them. Age(s) of Conversion - The Covenant envelops other, less important species. It is likely that the Grunts were absorbed first, then the Jackals, then Hunters. The Brutes and Drones have yet to be discovered. Age(s) of Doubt - The Covenant has stood for over 100,00 years, and no prescence of the Sacred Rings or Oracles has been detected. The Elites start to doubt the Prophets. Possibly the Engineers were absorbed at this time. Age(s) of Reclamation - The Covenant discovers the human civilisation and immediately declares war. They discover the locations of the Halos and move to start activating it;s secrets. It is at this time the Brutes and Drones are absorbed into the Covenant. They also find the Flood. Well, that's it.
