I just have to offer my view on this matter...

As a web designer (of sorts) myself, I have to say that my first visit to HBO was a revelation. A perfect model of the KISS-philosophy, and visually engaging (to my aesthetic sensibilities anyway, but I'm Finnish, so I can't help it). Even today, I offer a small thanks to Mr Wu as I make my daily web rounds and HBO loads up: it's like walking into a stone garden tucked away in a bustling, commerce infected city.

Why isn't this attitude more prevalent? Not only is HBO the most centent rich Halo site in existence, it also doesn't beat you over the head with it.
:: You'll never find Flash here, except as a standalone game, or an April Fools
:: prank. You'll never find DHTML. You'll RARELY find non-compliant HTML,
:: even.
Amen to that. Though I must say, the occasional content in the BOLL-standard liven up things nicely... but that is partly because of the contrast between the austere background and the occasional visual merriment.
There, I just had to voice my gratitude and admiration about HBO in general, and the design philosophy behind it in particular. So a thousand thanks, Mr Wu.
