In Response To: Predicting Halo 2: The Single Player Campaign (KiGlow) A well thought out speculation...in fact you cast a spin on a few things I took for granted. However, the lack of Halo 2 action in Covenant territory directly contradicts what Bungie stated in the first major American article about Halo 2...the November 2002 EGM. There is a section in the article named after a Jason Jones quote: "Take the war to the Covenant..." According to the article itself, here's Jason Jones: I think they were so mysterious in the first game that people saw the Covenant as very flat or they just came across as the stupid cliche of an alien race that ruthlessly attacks mankind. Nobody knew about their social structure or anything, but I had hoped people would give us credit and realize there's more to the Covenant than what we've showed. We're really expanding on them in Halo 2. There's a whole bunch of story we still have left to tell, and that's going to be a lot of fun. -Jason Jones, EGM p221-222 Keep in mind the Chief's original mission...capture a prophet, and force a ceasefire with the Covenant. That's probably why they wanted that downed cruiser in the E3 2003 trailer. I stand firm when I say a LOT is going to happen in Covenant territory. Still, well thought out theory...I like how Guilty Spark might have leaked the earth to the Covenant. |
