Sorry. Had to throw that one in there, no one had yet. I dont htnk this is the case, but since it IS still widely speculated that Humans are the descendants of forunner...

As said earlier, the nephilim were considered demons and hated. Covenant hate humans.
Or, since the nephilim were giants, they could be Spartans. A lot of times people would talk about their hieght. Its due mostly to augmentation, yes, but it would make for an interesting plot device. A half angel would after all possess great strenth and almost superhuman ability...
Personally i dont think so, but i felt obligated to explore it.. I'd still rather see Halo connect to Marathon in some way.
For the origional point, fallen angels= forunner, this could make sense. It certianly fits in with the archaetype. Not that the forunner are evil, but cast out of 'heaven'. Certianly with their wonderous technology and intelligance they seem almost divine. Heck, the covenant worship em. and who knows? maybe heaven for them is another universe that they were cut off from.
In any rate don't expect Jay and Silent bob to be covenant Prophets, or Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to be Forunner.
