I think you give MTV too much credit. This hardly the first time folks have stuffed the ballot boxes on MTV's site, and MTV continues to set themselves up for it by allowing multiple votes. I can also think of a couple times in the past where MTV has pre-determined who the winner of a vote will be, or at least pre-determined who some of the winners WON'T be -- when the ballots were stuffed in their favor, MTV simply ignored it and went ahead with its pre-determined winners.

For what it's worth, Halo is getting its ass kicked at the moment. You can see the results from the last few seconds here, and choice "f" (Dance Dance Revolution) is currently getting something like 100 votes per second compared to hardly a handful for Halo (choice "h", conveniently).

It's interesting to note that hardly anything other than Halo and DDR is getting any votes, so if the winner of the contest isn't Halo or DDR we'll know the contest was rigged.
