In Response To: So am I (Iceman1330)

: wait a sec im a windows newbie(ive used macs all of my life, and im getting
: windows for my b-day for this very reason) is directX just softwear? or is
: it hardwired into the motherboard. i want this
: ---------> http://www.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7v8x-mx/overview.htm
: and on the site i found it it said it was only directX 8.1 or something like
: that. please clarify!

DirectX is just software. And new versions are always backwards compatible, so you don't have to worry about upgrading and suddenly not being able to use your card.

You MUST have DX9 installed to run Halo, however that doesn't mean your graphics card will take advantage of all the functions DX9 has to offer.
