[concern about what hardware will be necessary...]

Though I'm sure that Halo will require hardware acceleration, I hope that Bungie puts some scalability into Halo's renderer, so it can take shortcuts to improve performance on (relatively) slow systems.

This may mean shortcuts such as fewer layers of multitexturing, shutting off texture filtering (so that the graphics will look pixelated instead smoothed), models with fewer polygons, and sprites instead of models for stuff like rocks kicked up by vehicles.
