Some Notes About Email
Posted By: Nathan <nathan@bungie.com>Date: 10/2/99 3:49 a.m.

Hey guys,

This is NOT directed at anyone in particular (and NO, it's NOT you FREEWILL). I mean that with complete sincerity. Since I have freely advertised my email address on both the Core and h.b.o., I have no problem receiving mail from you guys. However, as was expected, it is a little overwhelming at times and, like tech support when they are overwhelmed, I can fall a bit behind.

There are a couple of guidelines that I'd ask you to follow ...

1) At this time, we really aren't at liberty to give out interviews, especially since it would be no fun for you for me to continually say "I'm sorry, but we can't talk about that right now," or, "That's still in development, so I really can't say anything."

I don't mind answering people's questions (when I can), and I try to respond to every email ... though (just ask Narcogen and Noctavis), it may take a couple months. ;)

2) Don't be mad if it takes some time to answer. I am often a week to two weeks behind ... and sometimes, I'm just five minutes behind. :) Just as I can't or don't post to every thread on the forums (for various reasons), so it is in email. Rarely will I not say anything, but often it will take some time, especially if I actually have to THINK. :)

3) If you are making interview requests, please include your credentials (if appropriate), your web-site address or newspaper/magazine, and what your purpose of the interview is. Everything must go through our marketing department, and I can't deluge them with 100 interview requests that are basically people just wanting to know more about the game. The HaloNews.com site was really an exception, not the rule. I know you guys were hungry for info, and they had some interesting questions that I was actually allowed to answer. :)

Finally, yes I read the forums ... nearly every thread, unless the #s of posts get to where I have to pick and choose. I know several other Bungie employees enjoy reading here as well, though certainly not as regularly. It is not so much to mine ideas (not that that is a bad thing), but rather to keep up communication with our fan base. I'm not interested in becoming entrenched in debates - you guys handle that just fine. :) So as long as we can follow the rather easy guidelines, I'm sure things will continue to go well.

Thanks for continuing to maintain such a wonderful community - you guys are great fans!
