In Response To: Halo refrence... (HiddenTalon) Well, I found ANOTHER E3 wrap-up with this to say about Halo: Halo The Story In the distant future, man has colonized the stars. Of course this peacetime colonial expansion doesn't last long, as a group of alien races calling themselves 'The Covenant' start a war with humans. The latest planet on The Covenant's shit list is Reach, population 700 million. After they destroy it, a lone human corvette tries to lead the enemy fleet away from Earth. Being a bunch of stupid aliens, they follow. The corvette arrives at an alien artifact called HALO. It's a 'ringworld,' which is much like a Dyson sphere, only it's - you guessed it - a ring. You are a kickass space marine, who wages a one man army against The Covenant. You sometimes have help from other soldiers from the doomed corvette, but for the most part it's just you. The Game Imagine Tribes with a single player component. Now inject the engine with lots of steroids, and give it a hit of crack to top it off. That's Halo. Unfortuntely Halo wasn't available for play at Eł. Instead, the Bungie team put on a show. In the first 15 minutes, they ran around in the engine, showcasing the weapons, animations, and vehicles. Weeeee! Shell casings everywhere. Dirt kicked up from bullet impacts. Smoke trail left by sniper rifle shots. And that cool jeep. One driver, one passenger on the gun, and one passenger riding shotgun. Who wants some?!? For the second 15 minutes, the Bungie team played a movie hat was done entirely in-engine, then copied to DVD with mixed in sounds. Speak and I weren't the only ones who needed new pants after watching the scripted movie. The movie starts off with the hero sniping two butt-ugly aliens. Then, a human APC drops off six guys and a jeep in two different LZs. The humans converge on an alien held installation, only to find out they've been ambushed. This game just bleeds atmosphere. Utilizing only the game engine, Bungie created a war movie that reminded me of Aliens and Starship Troopers. Just imagine what the game will be like when you get to play it! Remember what I said about Tribes on crack? Imagine beautifully detailed indoor buildings combined with great terrain. Ohhhh yeah. System Requirements Unknown. They'll probably be pretty high, as the game dropped a frame every few seconds on the test machine. Most of the test machines at Eł were PIIIs with GE Force 2s. Release Date Unknown.
