"Valve, frustrated at this and realizing that keeping the Mac title current with the PC version was going to be murder, pulled the title. Sierra, the publisher, could only go along with the inevitable."

Bah. So now, apparently, NEVER getting the game is better for Mac gamers than getting it later. I'm sorry, but that's totally illogical.

"Apparently, Valve made the call to pull the title, even though it was near completion. And Sierra, like a good publisher, stood by Valve's decision."

Yeah...because their only motivation is maximum greed. Denying something nice to lots of gamers is irrelevant, and merely an afterthough. That's what I'd call "illegitimate business."

"What led Valve to go ahead from that point and kill the game for good we may never really know."

Indeed...buuuuut we can make some good guesses. ;)

"What Sierra still has on its plate for the Mac is the upcoming strategy title, Pharaoh. This hybrid title is still on schedule, Ostergard said."

That'll probably get cancelled...if it hasn't been already (then again, I've never heard of it, so it probably doesn't matter much...)

"When asked about whether the cancellation of Half-Life would affect other Sierra Mac titles, she replied, "I don't know what's going to come as a result of this decision.""

Well, it certainly didn't stop them from putting forth INTRIGUING titles like "Billiards" and "Darts." (I'm sorry...I'm just gonna have to keep nailing them with that to point out the illogic behind all this).

"Ports."

I refer you all now to a nice little rant by Randall "Frigidman" Shaw, the DEFINITIVE Marathon God:
