Bungie Attacks SETI@home! | |
Posted By: Jägermeister <kablam@edmail.com> | Date: 5/6/00 2:23 p.m. |
As reported on Marathon's Story, it seems the SETI@home radio telescope in Johannesburg, South Africa, was destroyed by what observers called a "pulsating blue beam." Chief astronomer Dr Nigel Van Hecht is quoted as saying, "Certainly, they may have secrets they don't want us listening in on." Does it sound to anyone ELSE like SETI@home may have been re-directing their radio-telescopes so they could listen in on Bungie's secret booth at E3 this year? It seems odd that Hamish would report this IMMEDIATLY after a story about Bungie's new, secret game. Maybe they should check the trajectory of that "pulsating blue beam" and see if its origin is somewhere in Chicago. ;) Or maybe there's more to it! Perhaps it's Bungie's first demonstration of the "awesome destructive power" of their new Wave Motion Cannon, no doubt to soon be followed up with Matt Seoll becoming President-and-First-Tiger and Jason Jones being named Dictator-for-Life of the entire planet.
