Why can't people who have read FoR be sure Cortana will only live for 7 years? It is stated that normaly, "intelligent AIs" as they are usualy made before, lived only for seven years.
BUT CORTANA IS THE FIRST AI MADE FROM A CLONED BRAIN, FROM A VERY INTELLIGENT PERSON. Quotes from page 235-236:
"But Cortana's mind was unique among all the other AIs Dr. Halsey had encountered. An AI's matrix was created by sending electrical burst through the neural pathways of a human brain. Those pathways were then replicated in a superconducting nano-assemblage. The technique destroyed the original human tissue, so they could only be obtained from a suitable candidate that had already died. Cortana however, had to have the best mind available. The sussess of her mission and the lives of the Spartans would depend on it.
At Dr. Halsey's insistence, ONI had arranged to have her brain carfully cloned and her memory flash-transfered to the receptacle organs. Only one of the twenty cloned brains survived the process. Cortana has litherally sprung from Dr. Halsey's mind, like Athena from the head of Zeus."
To me, that's a possible explenation of why Cortana could live more than seven years. She is unique, so they don't know how tha kind of AI is going to react. They made the previous statement that she would effectively die after seven years, only by they knowledge of previously made "smart AIs" (wich mean rampant to me, also).
What do you think of that, aside that I'm a life-less maniac doing was-off interpretation? :)
