In Response To: Re: That Reminds Me... (Son of Grd'nl)

: I thought we only destroyed Durandal's Core Logic centers. Didn't shutting
: the Core Logic centers of the Rampant computer in Oni (can't quite
: remember what it was called, exactly) make it threaten to self-destruct
: unless it had... feet? It doesn't seem that shutting those down can
: destroy an AI completely. Perhaps Durandal was just faking his own
: "death", and ordered you to destroy a part of himself that he
: could later rebuild. Or something like that.

: But how could he have escaped?

: In "Hang Brain", Tycho knew about Durandal's escape plan. Or part
: of it, anyway.

: "If they pull his core, that pride bloated corpse will disgorge a
: thousand wriggling worms into the S'pht consciousness."

: So Durandal manages to escape by replicating himself in the form of a
: thousand "worms" (viruses?). That's one theory, anyway. The
: Story page has another theory regarding Durandal's escape in M2 involving
: Robert Blake... it's in the "Facts and puzziling things
: about..." page on the leader of the humans himself.

Wait a second, on By Commitee there is a terminal where Tycho says:

"I happen to suspect you're carrying Durandal's final gift in that soggy little skull-his primal pattern. The Enforcers haven't been able to squeeze it out of you yet, and are taking it out on some of the former crew of the Marathon as we speak. But they're determined, if nothing else."

The unfinished message of the exit terminal on Hang Brain also suggest that the player is carrying Durandal's pattern inside his head

"pr?The last hour is on us both?mr.s?tuck this little kitty into the impenetrable brainpan? "
