I don't know about that - Durandal still feels something for the human race, enough to warrant his divulging of the secrets of Warp-Capable Fusion Missiles.
Most of the other stuff he does probably is out of his interest in keeping his candle from going out, but there could be benevolent motives in his depths.
After all, if he is the reincarnation of Traxus V (IV?), and if Traxus V was created with Jjaro/Yrro technology, perhaps he is at least a little bit altruistic.
