Well, Bungie didn't really involve the pattern buffers in the story very much. They just explained them away here and there, acknowledging their presence but not really going into the whole physics of the thing. "How do your pattern buffers work?" "Very well, thank you!" Just so I don't feel guilty, I acknowledge that I stole that from someone (the idea of the joke... they weren't talking about PBs), but I don't recall whom at the moment. : Your all probably right, but here is my original question: What give the : mjolnir his terrible devasting huge ammount of power? "I have seen : nothing to account for it's terror" Aside from the obvious differences in human intelligence versus AI, I'd say the primary difference is speed, and the consequent ability to dodge. Can you imagine trying to dodge even a homing s'pht blast at the easy trot of a pfhor shock-boi? :) The marine does not endure, he evades. Anyway, as Anaphiel put the same point far more eloquently than I could have, I'll stop here before I embarrass myself.
