Indeed. In fact, I think this is the key. I seem to recall quite a bit of speculation that a number of time and distance calculations cited by Leela in the first game may have been off intentionally, so as to lead the Pfhor away from Earth. And the Pfhor, not being the most creative of species (they stole a lot of Jjaro technology, which may be how they were able to find Lh’owon), may have believed these calculations to be true, and been looking for Sol in the wrong areas of space. Bugs are so obedient, after all.
