: Virtual Private Network? What's that?

hmmm, it's a Virtual Private Network... :)

It simulates a LAN between two remote computer via the Internet, using port 1723. There are two standards, PPTP and IPsec. Windows 2000 and XP can be made to be VPN server in a few clics (both standards supported), and any windows machine can be made to connect to them easily trought a "dial-up look-like" interface. Only at the place of a phone number, it's an IP.

There must be a way to do it with macs too, but since I don't own any, I can't check.

The only litle problem I think of, is that the VPN server might *have* to be the game server too. Because VPN isn't meant to provide full access in both way (it is made for employee to connect on their work's network). Maybe someone can confirm/deny this?
