In Response To: Re: Which Old Mac for Old Games (Hamish Sinclair)

Newer QuickTimes are more compatible with newer macs. If you install a QuickTime newer than v.3 on an old pre-G3 mac sound quality might be unacceptably poor. You don't need QuickTime to play marathon though it might speed things up conciderably...

: Mr. Smith,

: Any post 1995 Mac is going to run all three Marathons and PID at a fairly
: decent lick.

: There are problems with running the games with Mac OS X.

: A much bigger problem for me is M1 and Quicktime 3.0 and above. The Marathon
: background music will only sound as it should with QT 2.5. You can grab
: this off the FAQ section of the Story page. If you getting a Mac to only
: play Marathon then I suggest installing QT2.5 rather than any later
: version.

: For true Marathon purity install System 7. ;-)

: Cheers
: Hamish
