I couldn't find any real connections between Halo and Marathon. Though they did mention "the normal Marathon class ships" or something like that when they compared ships once in the book. The MJOLNIR suit also sounds familiar almost like from a dream or something. The Spartans had strenghthened bones and could survive long falls...
