I disagree. Bill Gates was a really cool guy from the beginning, he started a small company hacking code. Just like I do. =)
But think about it, the first money they made came from a combination of a lucky shot and a lie. And ever since then, every piece of software they have developed has been a ridiculously obvious ripoff of something someone else has done (most often Apple) only a lot worse.
It took DOS a couple of YEARS to evolve into a graphic interface OS (and I'm not even sure if Windows deserved to be called an "OS" at that time) and then it took Windows three years to get a trashcan. And when you compare Windows to Mac OS, it's obvious that they got stressed by the fact that Apple had a graphic interface while they didn't, so they threw something together really quick just to have one themselves. Bill Gates' words: "Well, it was NOTHING like THEIR system...but it was enough!"
And with the attitude "heck, if people buy it even though it sucks, why the heck should we improve it?" they made it into 1999, when Windows finally got some major changes. Now, if you look at Windows XP, it's still ridiculously obvious that it's a ripoff of Mac OS X. Only a lot worse.
(But I still aggree, calling him names won't help. Writing long stories about exactly why I hate them so much might.)
