In Response To: The end of Infinity (long post) (Friend of a Friend)

: I know this is a point addressed all too often, but what actually happens to
: the player at the end of Infinity? We are told that the universe closes:
: “Now in the quantum moment before the cløsure, when all
: become one. One moment left.” ”

: However, Durandal’s estimate for the closure of the universe is the year
: 1.52E10. It has somehow been hyper-accelerated Curious? That’s just the
: first mystery.

Not really. In Infinity, large periods of story-time are skipped over. At the end of Ne Cede Malis, the timeline branches off from the battle of the Marathon, but we start 17 years later again back at Lh'owon, this time under Tycho. Likewise, at the ends of failed timelines, you can skip ahead to the moment of the W'rkncacnter's release (the two alternate Aye Mak Sicurs). So I had just figured that after the end of Infinity, you are released and go to do... whatever you do... and zillions of years later, as the universe collapses, Durandal/Thoth finally realizes that you are Destiny.

: Presumably, we escape, and in doing so “become like god***
: "Escape will make you God" Escape to where? Another Universe?
: And how do you escape?

The next universe, I had presumed; and there are a number of ways to escape, the best probably being skipping ahead in time past the big crunch and forward into the next universe after it (which I would postulate is actually our universe, given circular time, which with Bungie's penchant for cycles they probably believe in as well).

: 1)The reason there is no evidence of the W'rkncacnter°Aye Mak Sicur (Terminal
: 0: 2nd Message) is that it had never existed. In this particular timeline,
: the Universe never contained such Chaotic beings. However, as a result the
: universe is totally out of balance. (Assuming that the Jjaro and the
: W'rkncacnter are opposing forces) When the yrro(farcast) pattern chips
: reawaken Yrro (or download him into the station’s network) He understands
: this lack of balance and closes the universe. There are obvious problems
: with this theory, one being, that Aye Mak Sicur (Terminal2)talks of an
: “ancient, endless balance.” As if such balance had been achieved. Perhaps
: in closing the universe balance was achieved? The terminal does say:
: ancient, endless balance
: then nothing

I think the W'rkncacnter did exist, but that by containing the sun in the station's gravity fields it was prevented from escaping.

As for the "two forces in balance, ancient endless balance, then nothing", I assumed this meant Yrro and Pthia.

"Cold times. My old Pthia. Lost, vacant, yawning, doubt. Two forces in balance. Ancient, endless balance. Then nothing." This is Yrro, reawakened, mourning the loss of Pthia, his love, his other half. His counterbalancing partner. Then she died, and he fell over the edge, turning himself off or whatever he did to "leave". That's the "then nothing".
