The end of Infinity (long post)
Posted By: Friend of a FriendDate: 5/16/01 10:08 a.m.

I know this is a point addressed all too often, but what actually happens to the player at the end of Infinity? We are told that the universe closes:

“Now in the quantum moment before the cløsure, when all
become one. One moment left.”

However, Durandal’s estimate for the closure of the universe is the year 1.52E10. It has somehow been hyper-accelerated Curious? That’s just the first mystery. Presumably, we escape, and in doing so “become like god*** "Escape will make you God" Escape to where? Another Universe? And how do you escape?

***I assume this based on Randy Reddig’s comments about the end of Infinity, (available in the YOU section of Fact’s and Puzzling things about...) an exert from his comments is as follows (the subject “you” denotes the player:

“we thought that my making you a god it would be sufficiently "ended." ;-)”

Escape to another universe is quite possible. There are many theories of A Multiverse. {a particularly interesting one talks of six values which govern the makeup of each universe and if a final, unifying equation (a seventh value) could be found, then travel between universes might be possible. Check it out at http://www.discover.com/nov_00/featlife.html} Perhaps the Jjaro pulled you from cløsure?

I’ve built the following theories, it assumes a number of debatable things, such as the Jjaro being a race of AI’s, and the ultimate fate of the W'rkncacnter.

1)The reason there is no evidence of the W'rkncacnter°Aye Mak Sicur (Terminal 0: 2nd Message) is that it had never existed. In this particular timeline, the Universe never contained such Chaotic beings. However, as a result the universe is totally out of balance. (Assuming that the Jjaro and the W'rkncacnter are opposing forces) When the yrro(farcast) pattern chips reawaken Yrro (or download him into the station’s network) He understands this lack of balance and closes the universe. There are obvious problems with this theory, one being, that Aye Mak Sicur (Terminal2)talks of an “ancient, endless balance.” As if such balance had been achieved. Perhaps in closing the universe balance was achieved? The terminal does say:

ancient, endless balance
then nothing

Could the “Then nothing” refer to the universe’s collapse? But how would closing the universe achieve balance?

2) Perhaps the Wrkncacnter had already escaped? Perhaps before you even arrived at Lh’owon? Yrro might have recognizes it’s absence and closed the universe, to prevent the release of the creature into other universes?

So much is possible when you’re dealing with time travel ;-)
