It's rather hard to do, though, since there isn't a jump key and you : don't have access to an assault rifle until later in the level—you stand : in the water, parallel to the "water-thingy," run forward, and : immediately wlak backwards once you pop-up onto the ledge. You don't have to do any backwards-walking. You just have to learn to turn quickly. It's pretty simple to time it - you turn as you're coming out of the water, and you'll end up on the ledge. (Come at it at a 45-degree angle, then turn 90 degrees...)
