: Oni was fun when I played it. And maybe a week or two after I beat it. But
: after a while the game got old. Indeed Oni has an interesting story, and
: good characters, but nothing near the depth of Marathon. Marathon left us
: with puzzels to piece together, Oni only makes room for speculation,
: rather than interpretation.
When Marathon was new, the only real question was "are we one of the 10 cyborgs?" When Myth was new, the only real question was "who the hell was The Head?". Both have now spawned huge story sites to their names. If people put that much thought into anylizing the depths of Oni's story, it might well be prove much more complex than it looks on the surface. Or it might not. But until people bother to start looking and not just dismissing it as a crappy, shallow story offhand, we'll never know.
